Cloud-based communications leader Fuze revealed today it secured a patent with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for a new invention to record live virtual meetings.

With more business activity being conducted in virtual settings, company managers and team leaders need the ability to document important meeting conversations. However, manually transcribing conversations can be a time consuming task, and is prone to errors due to the speed and complexity of business discussions.

The new patent by Fuze allows businesses to automatically record audio and video meetings in real time, and automatically transcribe virtual conversations. This offers businesses the ability to review previous meetings to ensure details are never missed, and also allows employees to share meeting information with colleagues or absent team members. Leaders can also utilize this technology to analyze the productivity of virtual meetings, in order to make future conversations more focused and effective.

“This patent reimagines traditional meeting recordings, transforming them into smarter, more insightful and easy to navigate media files where invitees can quickly watch meeting highlights, skip to action item requests, and access smart transcripts to comment on or help inform future conversations with colleagues,” said Rob Scudiere, President and Chief Operating Officer at Fuze. “This is an extremely valuable tool for workers who can’t attend a meeting, especially in today’s distributed work environment where seamless and efficient collaboration across organizations is more critical than ever.”
