Gamma Communications Continues European Expansion Plans with Acquisition of gnTel

Based in the UK, Gamma Communications is a provider of communications services to the business market. It offers unified communications-as-a service (UCaaS) products, inbound call control services, Ethernet, broadband, wide area networks, and SIP trunking. The company provides its services in the UK, the Netherlands, Germany, and Spain.

As part of a planned European expansion strategy, Gamma has announced its acquisition of Amsterdam-based cloud PBX provider gnTel, which is based primarily in the Netherlands, though it also has a small presence in Germany.

gnTel is a telecom operator and supplier of complete hosted VoIP solutions, active in the SME market in the Benelux and Germany. It has an indirect go-to-market approach with over 300 channel partners who are selling either via a reseller or white label model.

“The acquisition of gnTel builds on our existing European operations and through our previously stated expansion strategy,” said Andrew Taylor, chief executive officer of Gamma, in a statement. “We warmly welcome gnTel's staff and customers into the Gamma family and we look forward to working with them.”

The acquisition is through DX Groep in the Netherlands, which Gamma owns, and it’s expected to triple Gamma's cloud PBX base in the region as well as significantly extending its partner footprint. The purchase will also provide Gamma with a geographic base in northern Germany (near Dusseldorf), and the company said it will complement its acquisition earlier this month of HFO, a SIP trunk provider in Germany. Together, acquisition of the two companies will allow Gamma to accelerate its cloud PBX growth plans in Germany.
