The hospitality industry is highly competitive, and every hotel is looking to differentiate themselves by providing services their customers will appreciate. Operators carefully research everything from color schemes to the communications technology in the room. As the creator of the world's first voice activated hotel guest room assistant, Angie Hospitality is improving its platform by integrating Fourteen IP's cloud-based PBX solution called EVOLUTION Voice to improve the assistant by leveraging the built-in telephone and Internet capabilities.

Angie Hospitality claims it has developed the only voice-activated, Wi-Fi and room control technology solution built just for hotels and resorts. The virtual assistant is called Angie, and she is managed in the cloud, through an enterprise-class voice and touch screen-based guestroom assistant and integrated room control device.

“Now more than ever before, technology is having a dramatic impact on the hospitality market and changing how hotels communicate with and serve their guests. Through these types of partnerships, we intend to propel the industry forward in combining the powerful functionalities of telephony and Wi-Fi-based services to enhance guest satisfaction and operational efficiency,” said Ted Helvey, CEO of Angie Hospitality.

The company is looking to improve the capabilities of Angie, and in this effort it successfully carried out integration with Fourteen IP’s EVOLUTION Voice, a cloud-based PBX solution powered by BroadSoft. Fourteen IP also specialized in hotel system integration of voice and data solutions for the global hospitality industry. The company uses technology from leading vendors, including Cisco, HP, Aruba, Ruckus, Broadsoft and Mitel supported with full fixed line and voice and data services.

The combined technology of both companies is going to allow guests in rooms equipped with Angie to make and receive calls using voice-command through its built in telephone and integrated Bluetooth speakers. In addition to the new features, Angie will continue to provide a secure in-room Wi-Fi access point, a 24-hour guest room assistant, room control over lights and temperature, replacing the telephone, a high-fidelity Bluetooth speaker and providing promotions through the interactive touch-screen.

“As an industry leader in cloud-based telephony for hotels, we are always looking for ways to improve and enhance our offering. Angie fit directly into our sweet spot of both telephone and internet, allowing us to offer our clients even more interesting capabilities, such as a voice-based in-room service agent and room controls, as well as guest and group engagement,” said Fourteen IP’s Managing Director, Neil Tolley.

The EVOLUTION Voice platform has been designed with a virtual phone system to replace existing on-premises telephone systems or PBX. As a cloud-based PBX solution, it is hosted in secure data centers to ensure business continuity and the infrastructure to scale as need with flexible service and pricing options. Some of the value added features include, full automatic call distribution (ACD) features; agent and supervisor functionality; full reporting and call management software; audio and multimedia conferencing options and more.
