Cebod Telecom Offers Competitive Per-Line Pricing Model

Cebod Telecom recently announced that it would begin offering a pay-per-line pricing model to its business phone service customers. Although the service has many similarities to what other providers offer, Cebod is pushing a per-line pricing model that it feels is more economical than typical plans.

Costa Mesa, California-based Cebod Telecom provides cloud communication services for businesses. The company was founded in 2007, originally known as Cebod Technologies, which specialized in SIP trunking. This would eventually lead to the formation of Cebod Telecom in 2015, as the company sought to expand its offerings.

The company’s pricing model is based on the premise not every employee uses the phone non-stop for their entire shift, so charging for phone service by the user is a waste of money; it makes more sense to charge by phone line instead. How many phone lines a company needs will vary since some businesses are more phone-intensive than others, but of the plans that Cebod offers that are based on a finite number of users, the company suggests a ratio of anywhere from about 7 users per line to as few as 2 users per line.

Cebod also promotes a list of 40 features that come with its business phone plans, regardless of the pricing plan. These features include the usual ones you would expect from a cloud-based phone service: auto attendant, call forwarding, IVR, caller ID, conferencing, and hold music, to name a few. Using Cebod’s VoIP phone system does not require any hardware or software installation, provided the facility has Wi-Fi connection. As with any cloud phone service, Cebod’s saves on technician labor and provides scalability.

Assuming that Cebod’s reliability is in line with its competitors, its per line pricing plan should be compelling to SMBs with limited phone budgets. When you get down to it, the different plans are really based on volume discounts, not features. This is a great benefit to the smaller set of SMBs, which often find themselves sacrificing functionality for the sake of price. Since the service is not heavily reliant on hardware, it works well for companies with multiple sites or offices. Although business phone service in the cloud is an ultra-competitive industry, Cebod has come up with a potentially effective way to differentiate itself.
