VirtualPBX Releases Security and Compatibility Update

VirtualPBX, a provider of business telecommunications products and services best known for first developing Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), just launched an updated version of its popular Softphone App that brings further improvements to stability and the user experience.

The VirtualPBX Softphone App lets users access a full range of VoIP PBX features and mirror their in-office presence directly from their personal smartphone or computer, an essential asset for remote or distributed workforces. Calls can be made and received over the device’s data connection with the user’s business Caller ID, which in turn will go through an organization’s VirtualPBX system. The Softphone App is incredibly simple to link to an existing VoIP system as an extension and includes every feature that would be available in an on-premise deployment, while having little to no impact on the user’s personal calls or other operations on their device.

The latest update brings a number of improvements to security and data integrity—an especially important issue since the mobile workforce is steadily becoming more widespread yet mobile devices pose a significantly higher security threat. For this reason a virtual PBX solution should be matched with a capable and appropriate mobile security solution, even if this app’s latest update has taken that into consideration.

The Softphone App also now guarantees compatibility with a wider range of hardware in response to a continuously diversifying device market. The company regularly updates its software to ensure this compatibility is maintained without sacrificing the app’s smooth user experience and reliable operation, and as always it is available as a free download from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store for iOS and Android devices. There is still no word on if and when Windows devices will be supported.

VirtualPBX is a company that has always focused on developing technologies that facilitate flexible operations for its customers, and the Softphone App is no exception. Organizations in every industry can benefit from the ability to safely extend communications capabilities to employees on the go, while guaranteeing the same level of call quality for the people these employees in turn are talking to. The ability to maintain an in-office representation regardless of physical location is quite handy for active workforces and this app is one of many driving forces in the physical decentralization of office activities.
