Even though the communication technologies of the past seemed suitable at the moment, it is only until a new solution is introduced we see their limitations. For businesses with on premises private branch exchange or PBX systems, voice was the only alternative organizations had. However, today virtual PBX platforms can connect fax, mobile, Internet and other types of technology to deliver a comprehensive communications platform. In order to deliver these solutions, cloud service providers and data center operators are forming alliances to improve the delivery of the products and services they offer to their customers. The latest such alliance is between Telx and NewCloud Networks, to optimize the latter’s national delivery of ultra-low-latency cloud solutions.

NewCloud Networks provides hybrid cloud, cloud backup, cloud disaster recovery (DRaaS), desktops as a service (DaaS) and cloud hosted PBX to more than 2,500 customers across the US. As the company continues to acquire more customers in different cities, it needs data center operators that have the infrastructure in place to deliver it services with speed and reliability, while at the same time ensuring security requirements in order to meet different regulatory compliances.

The customers NewCloud has are distributed across many different industries in the public and private sector, including healthcare, financial services and legal services. It therefore has to be HIPAA, PCI-DSS, and SSAE/SOC-compliant.

“NewCloud's compliant, best-of-breed infrastructure addresses these demands by providing direct connect access via seamless private network extension to fully managed backup and disaster recovery services, cloud desktops services, and on-demand compute and storage resources,” said John Freimuth, General Manager of Cloud and IT Services for Telx.

Telx is a global provider of interconnectivity, data center solutions, and cloud enablement services with an industry-leading 100 percent uptime and 100 percent on-time service delivery SLAs. This type of reliability is essential when companies migrate to the cloud for their communications solutions. Any downtime can result in losing current and potential new customers.

The company has 20 centers located in 13 U.S. markets managing 1.3 million square feet of data center space with more than 50,000 network connections. This allows it to have interconnections of more than 10 million square feet of data center space around the world. According to Telx, “90 percent of the U.S. population is within 12 milliseconds of a Telx facility.”

The facility NewCloud selected is in the Telx NYC1 location, which is part of the company’s densely interconnected NYC data centers with more than 600 on-site carriers and Internet services.
