The Many Benefits of a Virtual PBX Even Include Enhanced Cloud Security

As more businesses turn to the cloud to store sensitive data, cloud security has become of utmost importance for many IT professionals. In fact, a recent survey of 176 IT professionals from provider of security information and event management, performance and availability monitoring software AccelOps states that 78 percent of respondents think responsibility for cloud security falls to internal IT staff.

However, this places even greater strain on these typically overburdened IT professionals. What's more, it doesn't have to be this way; the burden can be lessened with a good virtual PBX phone service, which can help enhance overall cloud security.

For example, hosted PBX electronic invoice delivery stores all invoices in an SSL-secured Web portal that can be delivered via e-mail, cutting down on printed bills. Faxes are handled in a similar manner — accessible through the portal and deliverable via e-mail — cutting down on sensitive information being left on the fax machine. Since Web portal accessibility can be set on a per-user basis, only authorized personnel will have access to higher functions and more important data.

Calling can also be configured this way, with administrators able to enable or disable international calling by extension. They can also set an overall spending limit for international calling per month, preventing costly unauthorized overseas calls. Of course, this can be taken one step further, allowing administrators to remotely disable a phone from using a PBX service at all.

Call tracking is also made easier as Web portals offer complete call records with the ability to filter those records by date, extension number and call type. Silent call monitoring, meanwhile, makes it easy to monitor calls for quality, compliance and training purposes. Virtual PBX providers can even record all calls, delivering recordings to a secure cloud-based storage system. If greater call tracking and accountability metrics are needed, many providers offer a virtual call center package.

Most importantly, premium PBX providers like Nextiva, feature a robust back-end network with Tier 4 data centers, industry-leading encryption, strictly controlled access, 24/7 monitoring and onsite support staff.

Furthermore, Nextiva offers all of these benefits in two simple PBX SIP trunking packages, with SIP Metered Plans and SIP Unmetered Plans available for a low monthly rate. On top of that, these plans offer support for legacy IP-based systems, HD voice, scalability, an extensive suite of client applications and zero setup fees — all without a contract.
