Hosted communications solutions like virtual PBXs are gaining popularity among enterprises due to the fact that they not only reduce communications and infrastructure costs but also help boost productivity.

Recently, *astTECS, a provider of enterprise communications solutions, revealed it has integrated a video conferencing feature into its virtual PBX offering.

With the solution’s new point-to-point and multi-point functions, the high quality voice conferencing powered by the PBX is highly affordable and accessible to businesses of all sizes.

"Integrating video conferencing, with IP-PBX has been gaining ground, offering surprisingly powerful video features on inexpensive hardware. Not only this has been saving companies costs, but it has also been able to position itself as a mainstream productivity tool,” said Levis Wilson, COO, *astTECS, in a statement.

“Expanded collaboration, where video would be integrated with voice and data applications hold tremendous promise in the enterprise environment," Wilson added.

Additionally, the PBX will help to ramp up projects that require employees who are located in far distances from each other to collaborate without frustration and actually view the person they are speaking to. Also, the solution is highly scalable as it supports from 25 to 300 users.

By leveraging a single IP network for voice and video applications, the *astTECS offering helps businesses reduce costs, simplify network infrastructure and leverage video communication as a significant component.

According to Dan Bieler, an analyst at research firm Forrester, approximately 1 out of 10 small and medium-sized businesses use cloud-based communications at this time. He predicts that as virtual PBXs continue to show their vitality, enterprises will continue to jump on board and adopt them.  Reporting a four percent sales increase during the first quarter of 2012, the virtual PBX industry could see some steady growth in the form of new businesses entering into the vertical, according to Bieler.
