Virtual PBX: Edgewater Networks' EdgeMarc Series of Products Interoperable with Metaswitch

Edgewater Networks, which provides key infrastructure component for the successful delivery of Unified Communications services, such as VoIP and video conferencing, SIP trunking and virtual PBX services, revealed its EdgeMarc Series of Enterprise Session Border Controllers (SBCs) has successfully demonstrated interoperability with Metaswitch to achieve Mosaic Partner Certification.

By joining the Metaswitch Mosaic Program, Edgewater Networks' enterprise SBCs can easily simplify the delivery of SIP trunking and virtual PBX services, company officials said.

Norman added that Edgewater's EdgeMarc Enterprise Session Border Controllers are a strong addition to Metaswitch's solutions, providing the infrastructure support needed to connect, protect, optimize and monitor their IP-based communications including virtual PBX services.

The EdgeMarc suite of Enterprise Session Border Controllers acts as an integral component of hosted services to reduce costs while improving call quality, security and the end-user experience. They are provided with a host of features that enable a hosted VoIP/ virtual PBX service with advanced features including a VoIP and video aware NAT/Firewall, protocol mediation for interoperability of VoIP and video devices, active VoIP line testing, call quality monitoring, survivability and QoS.

Stefan Knight, vice president of strategic alliances at Metaswitch Networks, said Edgewater’s Enterprise Session Border Controllers and associated support tools fill a needed role in their solution for service providers seeking to overcome the complexity, interoperability and provisioning challenges for their services.

The EdgeMarc Enterprise Session Border Controller is a part of a comprehensive solution that includes EdgeConnect managed Ethernet switches, the EdgeView VoIP Support System and EdgeView Reports. These solutions provide broad interoperability with industry-leading voice and video equipment.

The company's industry-wide Plug and Dial interoperability program includes a SIP trunking/PBX certification lab with over 20 PBX models and state-of-the-art automation tools.

The Metaswitch Mosaic Program is a formal ecosystem of solution vendors who have successfully demonstrated interoperability with Metaswitch's platforms in the company's lab in San Francisco. Solutions included within the Metaswitch Mosaic Program are promoted throughout the Metaswitch customer base, and Mosaic partners are invited to exhibit at the annual Metaswitch Forum.
