Call Forwarding from Phone.com
By Jessica Kostek, TMCnet Channel Editor
When traveling overseas, using your cell phone can result in paying for hefty roaming fees and you, upon receiving the bill, are wondering if there is a better way. Well, there is. With Phone.com’s (News - Alert) Call Forwarding, part of Phone.com Virtual Office, Virtual Number and Home Phone Plus sending and receiving oversea calls will become more affordable.
Phone.com Virtual Office with call forwarding is used in conjunction with setting your cell phone to the “Forward if Out of Reach,” mode available on most GSM phones. By forwarding calls from your cell directly to your Virtual Office number calls will then be redirected to your cell phone while you’re overseas. You can also have your calls forwarded to a “local” pay-as-you-go SIM card purchased in the country that you are traveling in by installing the card into your personal cell phone.
Phone.com’s call forwarding feature begins when you turn off your cell phone, or switch SIM cards. If you do switch SIM cards, calls to your cell number will be directed to your new SIM number, bypassing roaming charges.
For outgoing calls you can set up a Global Number in countries you frequently visit through your Virtual Office system.
Here’s an example. If you are traveling often to Poland, you’ll set up a Global Number in Poland through your Virtual Office so calls made will be from a local number and incoming calls will be received by a local number.
A Virtual Office plan starts at $9.88 a month and Global Numbers are either $4.88 a month or $12.88 a month depending on where the Global Number is set up.
A Virtual Number that supports Call Forwarding starts at $4.88 a month and works in conjunction with Phone.com’s reward program making calls virtually free.
Phone.com also offers 24x7 customer support so if you experience any difficulties they are also available!
