Comverse to Demonstrate its Solutions for Multi-Play Service Providers During CTIA

Specifically, the company will be demonstrating its Visual Voicemail product, which lets users “see” their voicemails in “menu form” on their mobile devices. With this advanced application, users can select just the messages they want to hear, in the order they want, on their mobile device. Service providers deploying this unique service can give their subscribers access to their voicemail messages from virtually any device or terminal by means of handset clients, 3G, MMS, Web and email.
Comverse will also be demonstrating its Mobile Advertising Solutions, which allow operators to develop new revenue streams and pass savings onto their customers. The “opt-in” advertising can be delivered via different channels of access – it can be embedded in messaging products, ringback tones and mobile avatars, plus there other injection mechanisms as well. Comverse claims its Mobile Advertising solutions give operators a “non-invasive” approach to offering ad-supported services to their customers.
Comverse will also be showing off its Multi-Play Convergence (News - Alert) platform, which facilitates true fixed-mobile convergence (FMC), including seamless hand-off of calls (including video communications and messaging) between different networks. This carrier grade platform lets operators offer real-time communication and messaging services across users’ PCs, TVs, home phones and mobile devices -- with a unified customer interface and address book. With this powerful platform operators can deliver intuitive voice communications, text messaging, MMS, and visual voicemail to their subscribers. Best of all they can offer customers a single number and a presence-enabled shared contact list which work across all modes of contact.
Of course, the company will also be demonstrating the capabilities of its popular Converged Billing platform, which delivers benefits to both operators and end-users. With this highly flexible and robust billing platform, customers can have multiple identities for personal and business accounts, plus a family account hierarchy of prepaid and postpaid plans can be handled on one billing plan.

In addition to exhibiting on the show floor, Comverse Director of Product Marketing Mark Pendergast will deliver a presentation on “Addressing Usability in the Wake of the iPhone (News - Alert)” at 1 p.m., Tuesday, April 1, during the show.
Comverse last made news on TMCnet in February when it released the results of a survey showing that there is increasingly strong interest in visual voicemail applications among both users and wireless operators. Results of the survey, carried out by market research company Synovate in the UK and Germany, show that there is increasing interest in particular from the enterprise and SMB market segments. According to the company, more than 80 percent of the approximately 800 respondents who took the survey described visual voicemail as a “useful value-added service.” Further, 75 percent of respondents said they consider visual voicemail “somewhat-to-extremely interesting” and about one third said they would retrieve (listen to) more messages with Visual Voicemail on their mobile phone, thus demonstrating that the solution can help boost collaboration and productivity among mobile users. When respondents were asked what they like about visual voicemail, 44 percent said they like the ability to view all voicemail messages at a glance, in any order, with full details, and 35 percent said they like the idea of an email-like interface. Another 34 percent said they like the idea of immediate receipt of messages and one-click retrieval with no need to dial in, and, additionally, 34 percent said they like the concept of being able to reply, forward, save and delete voicemail messages from the same screen/interface.
Comverse’s Visual Voicemail was nominated as a finalist for the 2008 GSMA (News - Alert) Global Mobile Award for Best Mobile Messaging Service.
