David Michaud Named CEO of Netcentrex Inc.

Telecommunications industry veteran David Michaud has reportedly been appointed as the new CEO of Netcentrex Inc., a leading enabler of next generation converged voice and video solutions.

According to a company news release, Michaud, who brings almost 25 years of telecommunications experience, has a proven track record of establishing new telecom companies, as well as extensive experience in accelerating their growth. He has led sales and marketing initiatives for startups in the IP networking business including Carrius and NexTone Communications.

“I am delighted to be joining the worldwide market leader for VoIP application servers,” Michaud said in the release. “The company is a leader in VoIP, triple play and IMS solutions with over 2.5 million lines of MyCall deployed globally.”

Michaud said his goal as CEO “is to expand a growing pipeline of customers in the ITSP, VNO, CLEC, IOC and other voice over broadband markets” in the Americas.

Michaud founded Taqua Systems, a telecommunications switch developer, in 1997 and became chairman and CEO of the company, which was sold to Tekelec for $85 million in March 2004.

From 1992 to 1995 he served as head of sales and marketing at Excel Communications. Under his leadership, the company grew six-fold in three years and became a leader in the programmable switch market. This provided a foundation for the eventual sale of the company for $1.7 billion to Lucent Technologies.

Michaud’s career also includes positions at DSC Communications, AT&T Bell Labs, Southwestern Bell and IBM. He holds a master’s degree from Washington University, St. Louis, and a bachelor’s degree from Carroll College.

Michaud takes over from Alain Fernando-Santana, who resigned to pursue other industry projects. Fernando-Santana will continue to serve the company as a consultant during the transition period.

In addition to the leadership change, Netcentrex announced its expansion in the U.S. with the opening of an office in the Boston area. Michaud will be staffing the Massachusetts office and expanding his team with top industry talent in the coming months.
