SANTA CLARA, California, January 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Netcentrex(TM), the leading enabler of next generation converged voice and video solutions, is pleased to announce the appointment of industry veteran David Michaud as the new CEO of Netcentrex, Inc.

Mr. Michaud brings almost 25 years of telecommunications experience, a proven track record of establishing new telecom companies, and extensive experience accelerating their growth. Recently he led sales and marketing initiatives for startups in the IP networking business, including Carrius and NexTone Communications. In 1997 he founded and became Chairman and CEO of Taqua Systems, a telecommunications switch developer sold to Tekelec for $85 million in March 2004. From 1992 to 1995 Mr. Michaud served as head of sales and marketing at Excel Communications where he grew the company six-fold in three years, becoming the leader in the programmable switch market and providing a foundation for the eventual $1.7 billion acquisition by Lucent Technologies. His career also includes positions at DSC Communications, AT&T Bell Labs, Southwestern Bell, and IBM. He holds an MBA from Washington University, St. Louis and a BS from Carroll College.

"I am delighted to be joining the worldwide market leader for VoIP application servers," said Michaud. "The company is a leader in VoIP, Triple Play, and IMS solutions with over 2.5 million lines of MyCall(TM) deployed globally. My goal in the Americas market is to expand a growing pipeline of customers in the ITSP, VNO, CLEC, IOC and other Voice over Broadband markets."

Mr. Michaud takes over from Alain Fernando-Santana, who oversaw consistent double-digit growth over the past few years and whose vision for triple play resulted in the creation of the IPlay3 Consortium. Mr. Fernando-Santana, who has resigned his position to pursue other industry projects, will be a consultant to the company during the transition period.

"We are grateful for Alain's contributions to Netcentrex over the past six years and we wish him well," said Theodore Martin, CEO of Paris-based parent company Netcentrex, SA. "We are also excited to take this opportunity to bring in a very experienced industry veteran whose skills at managing aggressive growth are unparalleled. David's track record of success makes him the ideal leader to guide the America's market which is currently experiencing rapid growth in the voice over broadband market."

In 2005 Netcentrex, Inc. experienced its best year for bookings and revenue per employee, and added several new customers including San Jose State University, VPN de Mexico, and InVueTel. The company also received market leadership recognition from Frost & Sullivan and iLocus, Product of the Year awards from Frost & Sullivan and Internet Telephony, and was recently named a "Leading Lights" finalist by Light Reading for its highly innovative triple play marketing programs as a founding member of the IPlay3 Consortium.

In addition to the leadership change, Netcentrex announced its expansion in the U.S. with the opening of an East Coast office in the Boston area. Mr. Michaud will be staffing the Massachusetts office and expanding his team with top industry talent in the coming months.
