Toll-free numbers may have fallen out of fashion a few years ago, but TollFreeNumber.org asserts that they are making a comeback, in a big way. Now, the site says, consumers are “feeling the need to make more personal contact with retailers” and to “have a convenient outlet to voice their concerns or address questions.” Here, toll-free numbers come in.
Logan Marshall, the founder of TollFreeNumber.org, says that toll-free numbers may even “be just the thing that helps the economy this month.” According to Marshall, there have been an increasing number of visitors to their site. This, he says, is because they “are now aware of their potential to boost sales and reduce returns (especially during this holiday season).”
Now that consumers have grown weary of the impersonal computer age and toll-free numbers are increasing in popularity once again, businesses may find that their first choices for toll-free numbers are already claimed. Things are certainly changing in the world of customer service.
In fact, toll-free numbers have become so popular that, according to TMCnet’s Rajani Baburajan, the FCC (News - Alert) has announced that they will begin issuing “844” numbers later this year. Baburajan says that, at present, there are 6.5 million “800” numbers, 5 million “888” numbers, 4.9 million “877” numbers, and 3.1 million “866” numbers. With many people operating out of virtual offices and small businesses proliferating, a toll-free number can also increase credibility, so it is easy to see why numbers are being claimed so quickly. Once businesses have picked out their toll-free number, it is time for them to brush up on their customer service skills, to ensure that they are ready when the phone starts ringing.
