Thanks to greater enhancements in video capabilities, videoconferencing is quickly becoming a key component of collaborative business environments. For example, H.264 Scalable Video Coding and other technologies allow the delivery of high-quality video to a number of applications, such as real-time video conferencing, broadcasting and streaming.
As more and more companies better understand the benefits of video communications, organizations are increasingly using the latest collaboration applications, such as video conferencing and telepresence, to trim their travel budgets and boost efficiency.
That’s one of the topics that industry experts, including BrightCom, a provider of integrated telepresence and videoconferencing services, will tackle as part of a session at Technology Marketing Corporation’s ITEXPO EAST 2010 this month.
Bob McCandless, CEO of BrightCom, is scheduled to speak with representatives from In Store Solutions and Xcast Labs on “Technology Innovations in Videoconferencing” at 10:30 a.m. ET on Jan. 22. Speakers will discuss the evolution of video-based collaboration and how to leverage the latest technology to achieve the highest quality real-time video possible.
During the session, McCandless will discuss the current state of immersive telepresence and where the technology will be in five to ten years. McCandless will also highlight how the future conference room design and use will differ from today’s environments. In addition, McCandless will highlight the interoperability with a multiple telepresence systems from a variety of vendors and telepresence and video conferencing endpoints – including Skype (News - Alert) and WebEx.
What’s more, McCandless will compare MCU-based conferencing infrastructure with a non-MCU approach, as well as the advantages of using a non-MCU infrastructure. The session will also cover the importance of data sharing in videoconferencing and the how data, video and audio can be broadcast for optimal bandwidth utilization.
