The Role of Telecom Platform Deployment in 2013

By Susan J. Campbell, TMCnet Contributing Editor

(NEBS)

Telecommunications throughout the global marketplace have followed an interesting path in the past year as economic challenges continue to plague providers while consumer demands drive rapidly changing trends. As 2013 is underway, emerging activity suggests growth in mobile broadband, LTE (News - Alert) and Fiber connections.

A recent RCR Wireless report highlights what to expect in the coming year, including the capital intensity and cost pressures telcos will continue to experience. A closer focus on the end-to-end customer experience will be key, especially as it relates to network quality and availability. An investment in analytics is sure to be a priority, while also ensuring technical shortcomings are not the responsibility of customer service functions to address.

As operators continue to examine telecom platform deployment, the key challenge will be in monetizing new business models. There is also mounting pressure to leverage valuable customer data through the use of analytics. As companies increasingly integrate devices and services, those on the leading edge will capture the lion’s share of the market.

The Ovum Telecom team, the writers behind the RCR Wireless (News - Alert) article, has a few predictions expected to impact telecom platform deployment and the market as a whole:

  • ·Global mobile connections growth is expected to slow to seven percent
  • Telco capital intensity is expected to remain flat
  • The enterprise market will feel the impact of cloud-based strategies and BYOD
  • Declining revenues will continue to plague wholesale carriers
  • LTE will be the favored rollout strategy
  • Small cell deployment will accelerate
  • Vendors will have to respond to software providers encroaching on core telecom software stacks
  • Integrated devices and services will dominate the market.

Regardless of the accuracy of Ovum’s predictions, many of these observations are made based on what is currently taking place in the global marketplace. As such, telecoms and providers can’t ignore the obvious trends if they plan to stay at the top of their game.

In the spirit of advancement, NEI (News - Alert) developed a Lifecycle Engine for Application Deployment (LEAD) system with a focus on making it much easier to get an application to market. The telecom platform deployment provider also offers the expansion slots and I/O options for the installation of multi-core processors, high-end telephony boards and features that include RAID and redundant power.

At the same time, NEI’s telecom platform applications are designed to increase efficiency and the quality of overall communications. This includes a focus on IP PBX (News - Alert) solutions, VoIP, recording and media gateways to deliver high availability and reliability, thereby allowing for a drastic reduction in costs.

The focus for this telecom platform deployment provider into 2013 will be on forming strategic alliances and always positioning its solutions to meet the time to market needs expressed by customers. By ensuring companies can maintain their competitive edge, NEI empowers its customers to discover new opportunities for growth in 2013.
