Known within the telecom, aerospace, defense and public safety spaces for its robust platforms that allow customers to ramp up time to market dramatically for products and services, Radisys also happens to be a technology partner of telecom platform deployment specialist NEI (News - Alert).
Together, the two companies have powered best-in-breed ATCA Solutions, enabling NEI “to produce high-mix, COTS-based solutions that solve unique network requirements. Such partnerships can extend our solution capabilities so we can provide greater flexibility and deployment options not available from other vendors. And, this partnership helps our customers reduce research and development costs by bringing together the best-in-class skills and experience needed to deliver highly reliable carrier-grade systems,” according to the company’s website. In working with NEI, Radisys will be focused on evolving its ATCA Platforms, Media Server products, and its Trillium wireless software—a plan of action that will significantly benefit the telecom platform deployment space as well as NEI.
The firm’s ATCA products are touted as offering the most processor options in a single platform such as Intel (News - Alert), Cavium, Broadcom, EZchip, and Texas Instruments. When leveraging this offering, manufacturers can easily build applications. Complete with T-Series Management Software, customers can gain access to a highly flexible solution that powers load balancing, switch redundancy as well as 40G per slot of backplane connectivity.
Radisys currently employs approximately 1,000 employees, and its recent plan will enable its workforce to complete projects much more efficiently with similar resources. Radisys Chairman Scott Gibson (News - Alert) added, "The things we're talking about are fairly small. But it's amazing. You do a few less things and you can do the important things better."
Both companies joined originally forces in 2008seamlessly integrating Radisys’ application-ready platforms with NEI’s integration, support, and service capabilities. At the time, Radisys’ Vice President of Global Sales and Service Christian Lepiane said that the new relationship reflects the company’s philosophy in collaborating with ecosystem partners.,
“Combining the depth and breadth of our ATCA portfolio, including our integrated 10 gigabyte Ethernet application-ready platform, with NEI’s established reputation for ATCA and NEBS frame-level design, integration, and testing as an integral element of its dedicated technical services and support team, will help our mutual customers achieve their time-to-market business imperatives,” Lepiane said.
