As telecom networks continue to become more complex, the need continues to increase for seamlessly integrated telecom platform deployment solutions.

Recently, Emerson Network Power (News - Alert), a provider of telecom platform deployment solutions, revealed that it will showcase its AdvancedTCA blade technology based on Intel’s (News - Alert) next-generation communications platform (codenamed “Crystal Forest”) at the upcoming Mobile World Congress 2012 in Barcelona.

The company’s new ultra-high performance 40G ATCA blade running Wind River (News - Alert) Linux and the new Intel Data Plane Development Kit will be among the products to watch at the event. The blade features a variety of high-speed interfaces for both ATCA fabric and direct connections.

Also featuring balanced offload acceleration, the blade provides system support to enable very high throughput of both packet-processing and control plane workloads. 

Stephen Dow, president of Emerson Network Power's Embedded Computing business, said in a statement, "Emerson Network Power ATCA blades based on the next-generation communications platform from Intel will offer the telecom industry greater flexibility in their equipment deployments, enabling the provision of more and more valuable subscriber services at lower cost."

Officials said that demonstration will show how an optimized system environment that offers balanced processing, I/O and data movement throughout the system can exploit the full capabilities of the next-generation communications platform from Intel.

The consolidation of packet, application and control processing functions in one blade is an important benefit of the next-generation communications platform, which is fully supported by the Emerson Network Power 40G ATCA blade.

"Our Crystal Forest platform, along with the Intel DPDK, was designed to provide breakthrough packet processing performance to enable powerful blade implementations," added Rose Schooler, general manager, Communications Infrastructure Division, Intel. "Intel also collaborated with Emerson Network Power on our workload consolidation initiative as they were designing their ATCA blade to reach 40G performance."
