Telecom Platform Deployment Solution Imagine ICE Video Platform Now Certified for Microsoft Mediaroom

By Jamie Epstein, TMCnet Web Editor

(NEBS)

Imagine Communications, a provider of advanced digital video solutions, has just revealed that its ICE Video Platform IPTV (News - Alert) transcoder, an innovative telecom platform deployment solution, can be seamlessly integrated with the Microsoft (News - Alert) Mediaroom Internet Protocol TV (IPTV) platform.

Tech Mahindra Corp. recently completed testing of the device, which is now qualified to be used alongside the platform. The testing was part of the Microsoft Mediaroom Interoperability and Qualification Lab (IQ Lab) program, which ensures interoperability of telecom equipment that is used in Microsoft Mediaroom deployments.

Ready for use in either a 1RU package or as a NEBS-compliant Blade System, the Imagine ICE Video Platform will enable IPTV service providers to deploy this telecom platform with more channels and much better picture quality, as well as provide increased scalability in order to support newly added devices including tablets, PCs and smartphones.

“By integrating audio and video transcoding in the same platform as PIP (Picture in Picture) creation, multiscreen transcoding and multi-format media streaming, the ICE Video Platform provides an all-in-one solution for quality, scalability and reliability,” the company stated in a press release.

Offering an unsurpassed viewing experience, Imagine's ICE Video Platform offers linear IPTV broadcasting while simultaneously cutting power requirements. Currently used by 20 million households in North America, this telecom platform deployment solution is a best-in-class video processing platform.

"Our IPTV partners and customers have expressed a pent-up demand for a new high quality Mediaroom transcoding option and we're excited to now be in a position to meet that demand," Scott Solovei, director of Market Development for Imagine Communications, said in a statement. "We have particularly enjoyed the working relationship with Tech Mahindra, who treated our qualification project with dedication and professionalism, enabling us to rapidly complete the testing and provide the highest quality and highest reliability IPTV transcoding solution to Microsoft Mediaroom headends and systems."

Another major player in the telecom platform deployment space, NEI (News - Alert) recently revealed that it will be showcasing its robust security appliance technologies at this year’s RSA Conference, which is slated to take place from February 27- March 2, 2012 in San Francisco, Calif.
