Teleste Corporation, a provider of broadband video and telecom platform deployment solutions, has just inked an agreement with Mobile TeleSystems OJSC (MTS (News - Alert)), a telecommunications provider in Russia and the CIS, in order to support MTS’ nationwide digital TV infrastructure.
The partnership is a part of MTS’ plan to upgrade its nationwide TV network to digital format in 2012-2013. To meet this goal, MTS has deployed the Teleste Luminato video headend platform and Teleste’s Broadcast Manager service to its digital TV headend network available nationwide.
Teleste focuses on two business segments: video and broadband solutions and network services. The video and broadband solutions division focuses on telecom platform deployment solutions for broadband access networks, video service platforms and video surveillance applications. While within network services, the company offers construction, upgrading, planning and maintenance services of cable networks.
"This project is of major strategic importance to us, and therefore we needed a partner we can rely on for years to come. Teleste's reliability as a company, combined with its state-of-the-art technology and solid roadmap for the future, forms a strong basis that we can trust,” said Dmitry Bagdasaryan, director for fixed business development, MTS OJSC, in a statement .
The communications provider hopes to install dozens of headends in 90 cities nationwide before the end of 2013. Teleste started the equipment deliveries in September.
The digital telecom platform deployment will combine the Teleste Luminato video headend platform and the Teleste Broadcast Manager service management and EPG solution. It will offer the most compact and flexible solution for delivering a premium-quality digital TV experience.
"This is a great continuation of our long and successful history in the digitalization of TV services in Russia,” Jukka Rinnevaara, president and CEO of Teleste added. “We are flattered by the trust that MTS, the largest Russian telecom operator, has in us and proud that we have been able to fulfill their requirements both as a corporation and as a technology partner.”
