Axxcelera (News - Alert) Broadband Wireless, a data networking company that develops telecom platform deployment technology and solutions, has just inked a partnership with Aricent (News - Alert), a global innovation and technology services company, in order to deliver a superior mobile broadband experience.
Under the terms of the agreement, Axxcelera will license Aricent's industry leading eNodeB software framework and combine it with its hardware to develop innovative, standards compliant LTE (News - Alert) eNodeB software frameworks.
These software frameworks will be part of Axxcelera's broader LTE telecom platform deployment product range, covering all aspects from the Evolved Packet Core (EPC) to high performance user equipment (UEs).
The Aricent eNodeB software framework integrates Layer 2 and Layer 3+ modules in a package that serves as a robust reference platform for developing a complete LTE eNodeB solution, according to company officials.
In addition to providing complete Layer 2 and Layer 3 functionalities, the solution exposes clear interfaces for TEMs that help them to differentiate their products in areas such as Self Organized Networks (SON), Radio Resource Management (RRM), and Operation and Maintenance (OAM).
With this telecom platform deployment solution, Axxcelera is addressing a deep market need for a robust, standards-compliant eNodeB software framework that telecom equipment manufacturers (TEMs) can readily integrate into their products. This framework will accelerate the launch of advanced solutions, while reducing overall product development risk and R&D expenses.
"With LTE becoming the single biggest investment by operators, telecom equipment manufacturers are under pressure to deliver innovative solutions quickly and efficiently," said Rakesh Vij, vice president of business development, wireless and convergence for Aricent, in a statement.
"We are delighted to provide our award-winning software framework to Axxcelera to deliver world-class, feature rich products and services in record time," Vij added.
According to Jamal Hamdani, president and CEO of Axxcelera, this business partnership enables immediate acceleration of their eNodeB development while allowing Axxcelera to continue to deliver superior, cost effective wireless broadband solutions to the global marketplace.
