Crenlo Launches NEBS-Compliant Emcor 10-Series IBC Tie-Down Kit

By Jamie Epstein, TMCnet Web Editor

(NEBS)

A Dover company, Crenlo, has just released a new addition the Emcor 10-Series IBC Tie-Down Kit, which adds to its growing array of accessories that have been specifically designed for Emcor enclosures. Initially created as a way to fully secure the Emcor 10-series cabinet to the floor, the IBC Kit meets both safety requirements and NEBS requirements that protect building occupants from falling objects in case of a natural disaster such as an earthquake, as chronicled in the International Building Code.

TMCnet recently reported, “NEBS Criteria were designed to help assure that the equipment purchased is easy to install, operates reliably, and efficiently occupies building space. In addition, NEBS stringent specifications ensure equipment and service survivability in the event of an earthquake and can help to protect personnel from injury.”

Described in an article in Design World, the kit has four frame spacers and four seismic brackets that need very important concrete anchoring hardware to meet the local codes that as determined by a building engineer.

There are two standards by which enclosures are deemed seismic which include Telcordia (News - Alert) Technologies GR-63-CORE Network Equipment Building Systems (NEBS) and the International Building Code (IBC), the article revealed. For many years, Crenlo has powered a Telcordia-compliant seismic rack that has successfully passed Zone 4 testing criteria.

NEBS specifications not only help to ensure high quality equipment, but also ensure that safety remains a top priority at all times.
