By Rajani Baburajan, TMCnet Contributor
“NEBS” (Network Equipment Building Systems) is the most commonly used set of safety, spatial and environmental design guidelines applied to the telecommunications equipment in the United States.
Two companies – Dot Hill Systems, a provider of Unified Virtual Storage and Storage Area Network (SAN) storage solutions, and BEXSA Solutions, a manufacturer's representative for embedded systems companies in Canada – are joining hands to develop NEBS compliant storage solutions to Canadian market.
Dot Hill provides iSCSI and Fibre Channel storage solutions featuring NEBS Level 3, MIL SPEC 810F, and 810G compliance and certifications to meet the most rugged requirements.
Under the terms of the agreement, BEXSA Solutions will market Dot Hill's ruggedized rack-mount RAID storage solutions and the Assured UVS Unified Virtual Storage appliance to Canadian OEM integrators and government military agencies that support airborne, ground, naval and unmanned mission-critical programs.
"We rely on leading COTS suppliers such as Dot Hill to help us provide a full communication network of solutions to our marketplace," said Pierre Carriere, president of BEXSA Solutions, in a statement. "Dot Hill's years of delivering field-proven, ruggedized solutions for government and military applications made them the logical selection as our go-to-market partner for storage."
BEXSA Solutions specializes in rugged communications. It provides design capabilities and full systems for applications that require rugged sub-systems, which together provide a total solution for tactical, unmanned, and C4 communication networks. The company provides business development, sales, design, customer service and support to customers in Eastern Canada.
"Our agreement with BEXSA Solutions allows us to extend Dot Hill's reach into the Canadian marketplace and build on our ruggedized storage portfolio," said Inese Lanka, senior director, Federal Sales, Dot Hill Systems, in a statement.
“BEXSA's extensive experience in the rugged communications market is a great fit for Dot Hill, providing another way for military integrators to source reliable, robust COTS storage systems for mobile applications and numerous other government programs,” Lanka added.
