MET Labs Is Certified to Perform NEBS Testing in Maryland

By Jamie Epstein, TMCnet Web Editor

(NEBS)

MET Laboratories (News - Alert) was founded by Leonard Frier, originally named Maryland Electrical Testing, in 1959. As the customer base continued to grow at a rapid pace and customers began coming to the facility from outside of the state, the name was eventually changed MET Electrical Testing Company. At first, the company focused on only testing high voltage electrical transmission and distribution systems, but in 1992 the focus was changed to testing and certification of electrical products – either in the laboratory or at customer locations, and the laboratory became certified to perform NEBS testing.

MET is certified by Verizon (News - Alert) to perform these NEBS tests in Baltimore, Maryland, and in two cities in California including Santa Clara and Union City: GR-63-CORE, GR-487-CORE, GR-1089-CORE.

In addition, MET Labs is also approved by Verizon as an ITL for Thermal Modeling, Simulation and Test Requirements to VZTPR document VZ.TPR.9208. This program was created in order to greatly cut down the amount of energy required by equipment. This is done through reducing heat generation and power consumption.

According to the company website, MET verifies the conformance of equipment to the requirements of VZ.TPR.9208, and document the results in a Thermal Management Conformance (TMC (News - Alert)) Report. Verizon mandates that this TMC Report be provided as part of the NEBS conformance and reporting program.

MET can help any company to save both time and money by creating a custom test program that integrates both domestic and international regulatory compliance with NEBS testing. Along with multiple high quality capabilities, MET will work with customers to obtain complete NEBS compliance, no matter if the product already exists or is currently in the development stage.
