NTS Silicon Valley Achieves Verizon ITL Program Approval for NEBS Testing

By Anil Sharma, TMCnet Contributor

(NEBS)

National Technical Systems, Inc. has announced approval of its Newark, CA (News - Alert) laboratory as a Verizon Independent Testing Laboratory (ITL) for NEBS testing to the GR-63 CORE standard.

NEBS is the most common set of safety, spatial and environmental design guidelines applied to telecommunications equipment in the United States. It is an industry requirement, but not a legal requirement.

With the approval of the NTS Silicon Valley laboratory, NTS has seven laboratories approved for the Verizon (News - Alert) ITL program, including two international locations.

Verizon says that its Independent Testing Laboratories (ITL) certification program helps expedite product-to-market cycles for Verizon's telecommunications equipment vendors and creates more economical compliance testing processes.

Under the Verizon ITL NEBS Testing Certification Program (NEBS-TCP) Verizon will accept NEBS testing reports only from laboratories that have been qualified under Verizon's certification standards.

"The completion of the Verizon ITL assessment program in the Newark facility underscores our Company's commitment to providing the highest quality testing and engineering services for clients with Verizon NEBS requirements," said Gaylon Morris, general manager of NTS (News - Alert) Silicon Valley/Elliott Laboratories, in a statement.

Because of this approval, NTS Silicon Valley is now certified to conduct NEBS testing to various sections of the GR-63 CORE standard on telecommunications equipment to be sold for use in Verizon's high-I.Q. network.

Officials with National Technical Systems said that the NEBS-related services that NTS Silicon Valley is approved to provide to Verizon manufacturers include the development of test plans, conducting of tests and reporting of product compliance with applicable standards.
