NEI, a provider of application platforms, deployment solutions and lifecycle support services for software technology developers and OEMs worldwide, announced today that TMC (News - Alert), a communications and technology company, has named its N-2710 NEBS Level 3- Certified DC-powered server as a recipient of the 2010 Internet Telephony Product of the Year Award. Winners of this award are recognized for outstanding innovation.

NEI’s N-2710 carrier-grade rack mount server is the first and only NEBS Level 3-certified solution built on the Dell (News - Alert) PowerEdge R710 server and enhanced for use by communications providers. With dual socket support for up to two Intel Xeon 5600 Series 6-core processors, the DC-powered N-2710 server combines increased performance levels with power efficiency—to offer a greater level of performance-per-watt over previous rack-mount servers.

The solution also provides for seamless integration with GE’s packet processing technology, designed to provide secure, high-speed connectivity and complex security processing at wire speed performance, the press release stated.

The N-2710 was initially designed to meet the growing demands within the telco central office environment, as well as data centers and enterprise networks. It makes the delivery of communications solutions and services drastically decrease in cost, reduces time to market by an average of more than 28 weeks, and cuts the amount of additional resources needed by more than 50 percent.
