Orbtalk Officials: 79 Percent of Businesses to Use VoIP by 2013

Accordingto Britain’s rather cleverly-named Orbtalk, 79 percent of businesses will use the Internet for phone calls by 2013. More companies are moving to VOIP (Voice over Internet protocol) due to the large savings that can be made, company officials say, cottoning on to a well-established trend.

Over recent months Voice over Internet protocol providers “have noticed a large increase in customers making use of their services,” Orbtalk officials say, attributing the spike in business to the increased reliability and the huge savings that can be made on line rental and phone calls.”

The benefits of Internet calls are fairly well-known, we’ll rehearse them here in case you’re new to all the fun: You get savings on line rental, low-cost U.K. and International calls, digital call quality and easy setup. You can use existing hardware, keep your existing numbers and there are free calls between users.

Through constant improvements to SIP trunk provider’s hardware and networks, Orbtalk officials say, “VoIP providers are now at a stage where call quality is equal to that of a traditional ISDN or analogue line.” Maybe not exactly in all cases, but frankly this isn’t the VoIP you remember from three years ago, it’s gotten a whole lot better.

The savings that can be made using VoIP are still impressive. Orbtalk officials estimate that most users’ savings “can range from anywhere between 40 percent and 80 percent” from a traditional phone system, “depending on the nature of your business.”

Benefits of a hosted system include giving employers the option of having staff work from home but still connecting to the same phone system. “This gives you the ability to view your staffs live call records, monitor when they are on a call and the call duration, meaning your staff no longer have to drive to and from the office to be in the loop,” Orbtalk officials point out.
