New Voice-Controlled Media Center for Italian PC Users
By Stefania Viscusi, Assignment Desk Editor
PC users in Italy are about to understand just what the power of speech technologies can provide thanks to a new announcement made today by speech technology provider Loquendo.
The company announced today along with Olidata, a manufacturer of personal computers in Italy, the launch of Olidata Regalo Voice.
The solution is a voice-controlled media center, that includes an easy to use interface with dynamic TTS-based feedback allowing users to voice control any menu. This includes the ability to use their voice to open photos, music files, change TV channels or manage VoIP
telephony within the media center.
"The intelligent intuitive and user-friendly interface is able to bring alive, interactively, all the features of the Media Center, multimedia content and all the latest on-line music film and TV," commented Antonio Masenza, President of Olvidata in a statement to the press.
In the office setting, the solution provides a more convenient and productive way of doing such things as setting up a slide show, making a presentation or doing a product demonstration for example.
According to a news release, "The solution is based on a remote control Windows Vista compliant, enhanced with push to talk capabilities, and Loquendo ASR and TTS technology, integrated by the Speaky media centre application platform."
