VoxWeb and Loquendo Bring Speech Technologies to Spain
By Stefania Viscusi, Assignment Desk Editor
In a bid to bring speech technologies to even more people and places in Spain, Loquendo (News - Alert) and VoxWeb Soluciones de Voz have announced they worked together to create speech solutions for local councils in the area.
VoxWeb Soluciones de Voz, a Spanish speech solutions company made use of Loquendo Speech Recognition and Text to Speech solutions to develop speech applications particularly to compliment Web portal services.
“VoxWeb chose Loquendo technology mainly for the quality of its TTS voices and the reliability of its speech recognition engine” said Josep Juvé, Managing Director of VoxWeb Voice Solutions. “The other aspect is the ease with which we are able to integrate Loquendo technologies and use them to rapidly deploy multi-channel, multimodal solutions that our customers value immensely. And last, but not least, for Loquendo’s partner strategy, which perfectly fits our plans for growth”.
With the company's VoxWebPC, VoxPlay and VoxWeb solutions, users of Web portals can browse content using their voice as well as listen to content like news and other event information that is read out to them - enhancing their experience and adding a new communication channel for users of all kinds.
Loquendo currently offers 23 different languages including Castilian Galician, Valencian and Catalan as well as 58 different voices to help VoxWeb reach different markets in Spain as well as other areas of the world in the future.
Together, Loquendo and VoxWeb are able to offer speech solutions that can be rapidly deployed and that are easy to use for the public.
To help citizens improve their communications with local governments and more easily obtain the information they require, La Coruña, Castellón, Vigo, l’Hospitalet and Palma de Mallorca have already deployed the Web-based speech solutions.
“VoxWeb is among our strongest European partners to offer added value services in the energetic Web market” said Rosanna Duce, VP International Sales at Loquendo. “Our technological strength coupled with VoxWeb’s expertise and reputation in the Spanish market has enabled us to achieve a perfect partnership from the point of view of both companies."
Just last week, Loquendo made headlines with the announcement that it added a new member to its family of TTS voices. The latest member to join the family of voices is Steven, a male voice offered in the American English Language. This latest addition brings the company's number of English voice offered to five.
