The company announced today that Loquendo (

Alert) Embedded TTS and ASR now available for the new iPhone 3G in more than 20 languages.
Apple
released the iPhone (
News -
Alert) 3G early last month and claimed one million phones sold in just the opening weekend.
By including voice in the feature-rich phone, the device becomes even more useful and a perfect solution for multi-tasking.
With their voice, iPhone users can select and play MP3 files, or use their device for voice-enabled GPS navigation, or to read aloud SMS and email messages.
Loquendo's Embedded TTS offering is a highly expressive, speech synthesis technology that is available in 23 languages with 57 voices.
Loquendo Embedded ASR is a "small footprint ASR" that offers "enhanced recognition accuracy and faster response time even on mobile phones."
As the market for iPhone applications emerges, these technologies from Loquendo, which "have been successfully ported to the iPhone and are now available to selected application developers," guarantee the advanced voice control and high quality speech output required by this market.
Loquendo recently
announced the release of version 7.5 of Loquendo TTS. The latest version includes a number of advancements like new features for Loquendo TTS Director including an extension of the Java API set and TTS engine enhancements that make it possible for Loquendo TTS Director to control all the new features.
They also
announced a new collaboration with Archean Technologies last week to place their Embedded TTS on board French public transport.
By integrating Loquendo's speech synthesis technology into Archean Technologies Voice over IP and travel information solution, they are able to provide passengers on board French buses the ability to hear the name of upcoming stops and other relevant travel information.
