Speech technology provider, Loquendo, (News
) has announced that its Embedded TTS technology was chosen to empower AvMap's Geosat 6.
AvMap, a provider of satellite navigation solutions and fleet tracking systems, offers the Geosat 6, a GPS Navigator with high resolution and a 4.8" wide screen, to ensure "recognition at a glance."
The device also includes a smart powered magnetic mount which makes it possible to rotate the screen and view it from either a horizontal or vertical mode.
With Loquendo's TTS technology included in the device, it is now also able to read out street and place names without the need to touch, or look at the screen. This allows drivers to keep their eyes on the road while also utilizing the benefits of the device.
"AvMap's products are built with safety in mind, and all the innovations featured in the Geosat 6 - from the powered magnetic mount to Loquendo's text to speech technology - are intended to make the navigation experience easier and safer," says Simone Lazzarini, AvMap's Managing Director.
"We are planning to use Loquendo technology even more in the future - for reading out POI descriptions and navigation info. The success of AvMap's partnership with Loquendo is further confirmation that Italian excellence has found its way in the global markets."
AvMap also announced that it developed a special version of Geosat 6 for Peugeot Automobili Italia. The device is connected to the car stereo so directions are heard through the car speakers using Loquendo TTS.
Loquendo also announced
this week that Fiat Group Automobiles is offering a whole new customer service experience with the introduction of Chiara, a human digital assistant that offers advice and suggestions for car buyers. Chiara is a voice guide developed by Loquendo and H-care, a developer of multi-channel platforms for self-service and customer care and featured in the FIAT online showroom as part of the "Build your own FIAT!" offering.
