Speech recognition and text to speech (TTS) technology provider, Loquendo (News - Alert), is working together with Saltillo, a provider of communications devices for the differently able, to bring a natural voice to those who can not use their own.
To provide this ability, Saltillo is using Loquendo Embedded TTS to power its ChatPC-4 product line.
"Saltillo's innovative and creative solutions can bring huge improvements to the lives of differently able people," said Paolo Coppo, Loquendo's Vice President for Marketing and Business Development. "We are overjoyed to have teamed up with them, and very proud that Loquendo TTS technology is helping so many people to communicate more effectively."
Together the companies are able to bring personal, interactive communication back into the lives of the differently able using Loquendo Embedded TTS to achieve truly natural sounding text to speech.
The ChatPC-4, with synthesized speech output, is able to help those who cannot use their natural voice with PalmChat, a word based vocabulary for creating words and phrases 'on the fly' and buttons on the device pressed by users to create sentences to communicate.
"Our products are more than technology, they become the voice of individuals who are unable to use their natural voice," said Dave Hershberger, president of Saltillo Corporation. "The naturalness and quality of Loquendo speech synthesis helps us to provide the best possible voice for these individuals."
