Speech Recognition and Text to Speech Technology Provider Loquendo Receives META Seal of Recognition

By Jamie Epstein, TMCnet Web Editor

Loquendo (News - Alert), a Speech Recognition and Text-to-Speech technology provider, has received the prestigious honor of the META Seal of Recognition for its Text-to-Speech technology at META-FORUM 2011.

“We are honored to receive this Seal of Recognition for Loquendo’s innovative and multilingual software and for the company’s active contribution to the European Multilingual Information Society,” said Paolo Coppo (News - Alert), vice president of marketing and business development at Loquendo. “A key goal of Loquendo has always been to make speech technologies available for all – multilingual, multiplatform, inclusive and affordable – and offering our technologies in so many languages and dialects, currently 32, has been a key step in achieving this aim.”

META-FORUM 2011 was held from June 27-28, in Budapest, Hungary. The international conference brings together thought leaders from European research centers, small and large technology corporations, translation services and other users of language technology, language communities and policy makers to discuss just released technologies in the multilingual European information society, a press release revealed.

On June 28, a META-Seal of Recognition was presented to Loquendo, and other companies, for its role in creating multilingual products and services that have helped to eliminate language barriers enabling innovative ideas to be shared, and businesses and individuals to gain access to the various market opportunities which are currently not leveraged as much as they should be.

The European Commission’s Deputy Director-General for the Information Society and Media, Zoran Stancic, stated in his commencement speech at the conference, "In the European Union we have lifted to a large extent the physical borders between countries, still there are many borders remaining, including linguistic ones. Access to information in all languages is a necessary condition to enhance the circulation of products and services, and to boost the advent of a seamless digital single market. I strongly believe that Europe can further develop its leadership in language technologies and deliver solutions that will benefit the European society and economy at large. The only way we can achieve this, however, is to combine efforts and build a strong partnership with all stakeholders concerned."
