Nuance (News - Alert) Communications speech technologies have been chosen by IT service provider CTG to power its new speech solution, Vulcan Voice which will automate the warehousing and logistics industry.

 

CTG specializes in providing solutions to warehouse and distribution centers within the Consumer Packaged Goods and Food and Beverage Industry.

 

With Vulcan Voice's use of voice recognition and TTS technology from Nuance, workers are given a productivity boost within the warehouse environment that allows them to simply use their voice to interact with the warehouse management system.

 

By utilizing their voice, workers are also able to free up their eyes and hands and continue to work on important tasks within the warehouse. This also helps in improving accuracy and will be utilized to improve logistics like loading, receiving and replenishment.

 

According to a news release, CTG specifically chose Nuance because of the VoCon 3200 engine's high recognition even in noisy environments.

 

"In our logistics laboratories, engineers evaluated several competitive voice technologies by conducting extensive noise and accuracy tests and concluded that Nuance VoCon 3200 was the clear choice for embedded voice-recognition. Nuance also provides state-of-the art embedded text to speech software that accurately reads data in a natural-sounding voice," explained Michael Colson, CTG's senior vice president, IT Solutions in a statement to the press.
