If one needs any more proof that the cloud is getting more popular all the time, that proof is coming in the form of a cloud-based company being purchased by IBM (News - Alert). Flexera is taking advantage of the growing popularity of the technology by introducing the InstallAnywhere 2014 Multi-Platform Installation for physical, virtual and cloud environments. Flexera is already one of the leading providers of next generation software licensing. Now the company is taking the next step when it comes to cloud providers.
The new release of the software makes it that much easier to deploy the solution on a number of different platforms, including Windows, Apple (News - Alert), Linux and a number of different virtual applications. InstallAnywhere 2014 is the only multi-platform solution that can actually detect and remove previous versions of an application and upgrade a new version on an existing customer’s PC.
The solution is also one of, if not the only solution of this kind that includes out-of-the-box support for the latest versions of MySQl.
"Virtualization and the cloud continue to deliver tremendous benefits for both application producers and their customers," said Maureen Polte, vice president of product management at Flexera Software, in a recent statement. "InstallAnywhere 2014 accommodates both existing and emerging environments, enabling producers to support the physical configurations that customers still need and want, while delivering applications as cloud-based offerings."
Support for the latest versions virtual appliances are making it that much easier to run various cloud applications through this particular software. The ability to use the solution out of the box means that developers can add and install different panels and databases to their software remotely and in a simplified environment. This in turn means that the solution makes it that much easier to avoid mistakes and the wasting of time. This is a big reason the cloud in general has become more popular.
