Forbes Media recently announced that it has entered into a technology agreement with ALM, a provider of legal and real estate news and information.  Under the agreement, Forbes will license its Falcon software to ALM, which will be responsible for powering the main ALM website, www.law.com.

ALM is a specialist in international business news and information. The company uses the latest technology to distribute its news across the globe, which is considered to be one of the key differentiators of ALM’s media properties.

In a release, Jeff Litvack, chief digital officer of ALM said “In the print world, we were limited by physical space as to the number of contributors, but in the digital era, we can expand the number of lawyers and industry watchers who write for our publications. By partnering with Forbes to license its innovative Falcon content management platform, we are confident that the upcoming Law.com Contributor Network will be a groundbreaking digital platform for thought leaders to provide the legal community with opinions and insights on today’s top issues and happenings.”

Forbes’ proprietary Falcon software is considered to be one of the main factors behind the success of Forbes.com’s contributor platform.  According to comScore (News - Alert), unique monthly visitors to Forbes.com have more than doubled from 12 to 26 million between 2010 and 2013.

Mike Perlis, Forbes media president and CEO said “Over the last three years, Forbes has evolved as both a publisher of content and as developer of new technology.  Our contributor platform on Forbes.com allows us to efficiently create and publish high quality content at scale. The partnership with ALM marks an important milestone for us and underscores the growing interest in the marketplace in our contributor platform and unique software.  We anticipate this to be the first of several software licenses expected to deliver significant new revenue streams for the company in 2014 and beyond.”
