Aurora Qualifies for California State Software Licensing Program

Aurora, a provider of security and compliance solutions for business critical applications, has qualified for the Software Licensing Program (SLP) established by the California Department of General Services.

The SLP program was established in 1994. Through the program, the California Department of General Services negotiates software discounts with software publishers. The negotiation enables SLP to pass benefits to the State through the SLP contracts established with authorized participating resellers.

“We are very pleased to have been awarded this contract,” said Aurora CEO Philip de Souza, in a statement. “With a wider offering, including expert consulting services and software, Aurora can better address our California State clients’ needs and help them stay current with encryption and security best practices.”

“Now our clients have an easy and affordable means to purchase the Internet security software they need,” de Souza added.

The company said that a select number of California businesses have qualified for the SLP authorization. Out of this, IT companies provide Symantec (News - Alert) software products at the volume-discounted rate made possible by the Department of General Services.

Aurora’s security assessment services are centered on application security, network security and endpoint security. Aurora offers solutions that include DLP, Web security, e-mail security, endpoint security, application security and data encryption. The company’s solutions are customized to the customers’ environment and preferences.

The IT company encourages deployment flexibility by providing solutions in the form of software, appliances, virtualized solutions and SaaS (News - Alert).

Recently, Aurora announced it has become an Enterprise Service Provider (ExSP) for Symantec, a global leader in security, storage and systems management solutions.

Symantec has authorized Aurora, following an extensive qualification process, to provide laptop and removable media encryption as an authorized software as a service provider. Aurora is one of two authorized providers of this encryption service in the United States.
