Enterprises that don’t want to say “out with the old” while embracing “the new” need not let go of legacy equipment – especially if they need hardware and systems that are reliable, durable and can withstand potentially harsh conditions.
That’s the beauty of REDCOM’s (News - Alert) fully integrated VoIP and TDM softswitch products, Carlos Sánchez, REDCOM Laboratories vice president of sales for the Americas, told TMCnet in podcast-based interview.
The company, which heads to the National Telecommunications Cooperative Association’s 2010 trade show in Tampa this week, designed its state-of-the-art line of softswitches to offer a number of advantages – in addition to protecting a company’s legacy system.
“Our systems are fully integrated, meaning that they don’t need to have external boxes connected to it,” Sánchez told TMCnet. “Our core technology is called TRANSip; that integrates the call manager, the media gateway, media gateway controller, on the same platform. So you don’t have to rely on external systems or features in order to make the system fully operational.”
REDCOM’s HDX is a carrier-class platform that’s class 4/5 approved in the United States. Offering industry-standard SIP functionality, HDX with TRANSip is compatible with standards-based SIP phones, so you don’t have to worry about being trapped by proprietary VoIP phones or protocols. HDX includes both current IPv4 and IPv6 capabilities, giving the user flexibility to make the transition at no extra cost.
REDCOM’s TRANSip-based products and the SLICE 2100 platform offer cable operators the opportunity to provide voice services over their network, according to the company.
“Coupled with that, we have our VoIP technologies already built in,” Sánchez told TMCnet. “And with TRANSip, our core technology, service providers can respond to consumer demands for next-generation services.”
