Softswitch and IP technology has changed the way businesses approach communications, but there’s more to it than voice services. Companies are branching out to take advantage of other IP and wireless communications. Bulletin, a software-as-a-service provider, announced this week its new Messenger Chat application that allows businesses to communicate with the SMS protocol via multiple devices.
As part of an expansion of the company's enterprise messaging suite, Messenger Chat lets employees send text messages either through their computers via the Bulletin website or through their smartphones or feature phones. Users can organize sent and received messages from within the smatphone apps and the online dashboard, and they can send and receive bulk messages. It works with Android (News - Alert) and iOS phones, and it can receive messages even when users are not online.
Bulletin notes in its product announcement that businesses are looking for ways to connect instantly. The company recognizes the appeal of the SMS to transmit quick, simple messages between business contacts, and it attempts to break into the communications market with a tool that works on many platforms, is simple to use, and is reliable enough for professionals in any market.
Michael Messner, vice president of business development at Bulletin, provided a comment on the nature of immediacy in the marketplace.
"Immediate contact is crucial in today's fast-moving environment, and it is driving businesses to begin searching for innovative, streamlined, and reliable ways to communicate internally and ensure rapid delivery of important information," Messner said. "Bulletin's fully integrated, turnkey Messenger Chat feature empowers businesses to communicate more effectively; employees can now respond faster than ever to any and all situations, leading to increased communication and business productivity."
Bulletin provides its customers with its REST API that allows developers to integrate the Bulletin SMS gateway with their own applications and perform functions such as message re-transmission and threaded messaging. Messenger Chat can also sync with email clients and connect to address books, provide admins with company-level controls, filter messages, and deliver message reports.
