The concept of using a softswitch to make and receive calls over the Internet with VoIP continues to be popular in the business world, as per a recent Infonetics Research (News - Alert) report on the state of VoIP and unified communications. The report also states that business VoIP services are fueling growth in the industry. In recent years, this technology has been seen as a great money-saving alternative to traditional ways of making phone calls, as noted in a post entitled “Guide to VoIP” found at Moneysupermarket.com.
Without a doubt, VoIP has offered a reduction in telecommunication costs and inexpensive voice communications. In fact, studies like that of research firm IDC (News - Alert) show that VoIP system can reduce telephony-related expenses by up to 30 percent. It has become the go-to solution to meet ongoing business needs as it not only allows personnel to make calls for free (or for a very low flat monthly fee paid to the VoIP service providers), but it also allows computer-to-computer calls, video calls and conference calls; this is, of course, other than commonly used for unlimited local and long distance business calling within the United States and abroad.
So, VoIP can dramatically reduce one’s phone bill and be a solution to make limitless phone calls to communicate from anywhere in the world at the lowest cost possible by means of the Internet, rather than by traditional circuit transmissions. Surely this will have more businesses opting to upgrade (i.e. to VoIP Services and perhaps a Hosted Telephone Solution) sometime soon. Research firm TechNavio forecasts there will be an increased shift forthcoming from on-premises networks to cloud-based communication efforts, as declared by Marlin Business Services Corp in a recent post on its website about the growth of the VoIP market.
Adopting VoIP is also a choice due to the flexibility it provides. VoIP technology only requires a good Internet connection and, conceivably, a subscription to a VOIP service provider. Despite the ease of setup, it can immensely enhance communication; for example, it is a means for the integration of mobile devices and/or, an indispensable tool for conferencing with stakeholders, clients, partners and employees. Such a technology has shaped connectivity by reducing the sense of distance; it allows working with remote partners or clients and, has lately been used for teleworking and to carry out remote video-based job interviews.
These days, more companies than ever are leveraging video conferencing for their hiring efforts. In fact, its use for this scope has gone up from 50 percent to 65 percent in recent times. VoIP has aided HR in the areas of recruitment, and has sped up the process of getting in contact with prime candidates. As per a study from the Montage Talent Candidate Report, 97 percent of job candidates felt organizations who utilized video interviewing were more innovative and forward thinking. However, some still resist using VoIP for such a purpose as “video conferencing disallows for some aspects of non-verbal communication [and should not] replace physical presence in many situations. [Videoconferencing] can easily be used as a tool, however, to perhaps work through a first round of candidates,” as wrote the Marlin post.
