The size of the global network infrastructure demands a solution that uses software in order to manage the massive amount of traffic being generated today. Manually switching network functions is on its last days, as software-defined networking (SDN) continues to be adopted by data centers around the world.
Using software to manage all aspects of information and communications technology (ITC) is making the products and services we use more efficient. This includes softswitch, an API used to bridge PSTN and VoIP by connecting PSTN to IP networks and managing the traffic of voice, fax, data and video for communication solutions such as VoIP. Using VoIP switches has increased functionality and reduced costs, which has driven the adoption of VoIP globally.
Biamp, provider of networked media systems that power audio/video installations, has launched Vocia 1.6 with new paging input options and adapters for VoIP and analog paging system delivering new functionality and three new devices to public address and voice evacuation system.
The three new devices include, the eight-channel Vocia Input (VI-8) for analog and digital paging inputs, the VoIP-1 telephone-paging adaptor and the POTS-1 analog telephone-paging adaptor.
The new features of the Vocia 1.6 provide impedance monitoring for the Vocia VA-8600 amplifier, support for unicast CobraNet local inputs and a dry contact control input mode for Vocia Life Safety Interface (LSI-16e), VI-8, and Vocia General Purpose I/O (GPIO-1) devices.
The Vocia VoIP-1 is a VoIP telephone-paging adapter that can be installed for different environments such as small hospitals and industrial settings. It enables live paging along with storing and forwarding to assigned page code with any Vocia installation. The device supports two lines and the addition of an expansion card can increase the number of lines to four.
Biamp delivers a single platform system operating on a single network that is designed to maximize processing resources with control from one central location. This allows organizations to upgrade features and functionality for expansion with a simplified design, installation and support.
"Vocia 1.6 introduces new components and features to extend our industry-leading platform to an even broader range of installations of varying sizes, while bringing our Vocia and Tesira platforms closer together as an integrated solution for flexible, multi-functional environments. Vocia 1.6 delivers the flexibility within a system to integrate paging directly with both VoIP and analog telephone systems," said Graeme Harrison, Executive Vice President of Marketing, Biamp Systems.
Vocia 1.6 will be available in June 2014.
