Technicolor (News - Alert), a technology researcher and innovator in the media and entertainment space, has announced that Cirpack’s, Technicolor’s platform for next-generation telephony switch operators, session border controller (SBC) and softswitch have been deployed to provide SIP interconnection between two network operators in Italy.
With multiple network interconnections and increasingly heterogeneous devices, network operators cannot afford to take risks with core network security. The Cirpack SBC responds to today’s crucial need for security while adding valuable, innovative features for the future. Cirpack has deployed its SBC and softswitch in a regional operator's network, enabling the SIP interconnection with Italy's primary, incumbent telecommunications provider.
The Cirpack Compact Softswitch (CCS) is the ideal packaged solution for offering advanced voice services over IP and legacy protocols to up to 10,000 subscribers and interconnecting the services providers’ network to the PSTN.
Cirpack is a highly modular, scalable, high-density platform, incorporating all the components of a powerful public telephony switch in a compact, standards-based and easy to manage shelf. Designed to replicate the features of legacy TDM switches, it offers a wide range of media/signaling gateways to connect to the PSTN and maintain legacy class-4 and class-5 voice services.
Engineered to Italian operator standards, the Cirpack interconnection solution optimizes infrastructure while reducing operations costs. The SBC deployed at the edge of the network - as an interconnection element for SIP signaling and media - ensures the necessary security and routing features.
"We are delighted to deliver our SIP Interconnection capabilities to the Italian market," said Juan Lopez, head of Cirpack, in a statement. "This most recent success is the result of close collaboration with our operator customers over several months. We have supported similar efforts throughout Europe, including the French, German and Italian markets, enabling our customers to offer new and innovative services to their end-users."
The Cirpack softswitch range includes Class 4 transit and Class 5 softswitches with native support for TDM and IP simultaneously, designed with next-generation networks (NHN) technologies and are interoperable with traditional fixed and mobile networks.
Included in the softswitch selection is the Cirpack High Velocity Softswitch, the Cirpack Compact Softswitch, the Cirpack Network Optimizing Suite, the Cirpack Public Telephony Gateway (News - Alert), the Cirpack Remote Telephony Gateway and softswitch software.
