Facebook (News - Alert) has been taking quite a few steps over the last few months to be more than just a social networking site. Of course the site can still be used for promoting your party, if you are okay with it going out of control. What is making Facebook set itself apart from other social networking sites is what it is allowing to be live streamed from its main hub. First there was the deal that would make Facebook the first ever social networking site to live stream a sporting event. Now Oprah Winfrey has come to the media giant, at least for a day.

Oprah got plenty of friends tuning in when she did a one hour live chat on Facebook on Thursday afternoon. The chat took place in front of several hundred Facebook employees as she talked to Facebook’s Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg. Winfrey mostly talked about how her network OWN is coming along. She also detailed how Rosie O’Donnell, who is hosting a show on the network, has outfitted her new studio.

“One of the first things she wanted was...the walls taken down...everybody's out in the open and her offices are dogs and kids and music is playing and there's a candy bar and a cookie bar... .” Winfrey said.

Winfrey also commented about how life really hasn’t slowed down all that much since she ended her own talk show in May. 

“I think everybody thought I was gonna sit at home and relax...every time I run into people they say ‘How is it? How's retirement?’ First of all I was never intentionally retiring. It's a little more frantic. The days were a little more organized. I feel a little out of body some days.”

Winfrey is working hard to get the OWN network to the high standard that she holds all products that bare her name. Before the live chat, Winfrey toured the Facebook offices with several employees from her magazine, the network and Harpo Studios. She said that she wanted her employees to see how the social media giant operates in hopes that they would pick up a few pointers.
