PageFreezer Introduces Extended Features Support for Twitter Archiving

By Calvin Azuri, TMCnet Contributor

PageFreezer.com, a cloud solution for preservation of websites and social media, announced that it has added extended features to support archiving of activity on Twitter (News - Alert). The enhanced feature support will help business enterprises to comply with record retention laws and litigation preparedness with relative ease.

The new development will provide wider representation of Twitter content and ensure that archives can successfully address regulatory compliance requirements for FINRA, SEC (News - Alert) and litigation.

Although retaining accurate and complete copies of business records for online content and especially for activity on social media sites like Twitter is a difficult task, several regulatory bodies demand that organizations comply with this requirement.

Key features that have been enhanced by PageFreezer for Twitter archiving include, Archiving of both public profiles and "Direct Messages" and Archive hash-tags and search keywords which helps in preserving complete history of conversation carried out either on their brand or a particular topic. The Digital timestamp and signature provided for each archived page, can be produced as verifiable electronic evidence of Twitter archives in court. It can also provide support for the legal hold process.

Currently employed archiving solutions for capturing Twitter content, which use the Twitter API, can only capture single "tweets." PageFreezer's advanced features support presents a comprehensive and robust representation of the full visual Twitter interaction.

In a release, Michael Riedyk, Executive Director with PageFreezer said that "These new capabilities for Twitter archiving are going to change the way organizations view their social media presence. There's been a lot of concerned discussion about the regulatory and legal risks involved with using Twitter for business communications, but the ability to accurately preserve this content really makes a difference."

The increasing use of social media as an important marketing and business communications platform by business enterprises has fuelled the debate on the effectiveness of its use. Several regulating bodies and organizations are calling for enforcement actions which has increased the emphasis on the need for solutions capable of reconciling current record retention laws with advanced and constantly changing Internet technologies. PageFreezer has been successful in addressing this need by providing enhanced support for the capture and storage of Twitter content.
