Voice and video over IP service provider 8x8, Inc., announced today the launch of a new referral reward program for Packet8 residential and business phone service subscribers. The company joined forces with Amazon.com for the launch.

 

The newly updated “Share and Score” program now rewards Packet8 subscribers with a $30 Amazon.com gift certificate for each qualifying Packet8 residential plan referral and a $60 Amazon.com gift cards for each qualifying Packet8 Virtual Office referral. There is no limit to the number of Amazon.com gift cards subscribers can earn.

 

“According to recent consumer focus group studies and Packet8 subscriber surveys, Internet phone service users are actively engaged in communicating the features and benefits of VoIP to family and friends,” said 8x8’s vice president of Sales and Marketing, Huw Rees, in a statement. “We want to further encourage this trend among our subscriber base by providing lucrative incentives that benefit both the referrer and referee.”

 

Under the “Share and Score” program, newly referred customers will receive free activation for Packet8 Freedom Unlimited residential or Virtual Office small business phone service plans. To qualify for the Amazon.com gift certificate reward, both the current subscriber and the person referred must maintain their Packet8 accounts in good standing for 60 days.

 

8x8 made news earlier this week when it was awarded with U.S. Patent No. 7,092,379 for technology used in routing telephony signals over the Internet and standard switched telephone communications networks. This patent brings 8x8’s list to a total of 62 patents awarded in the U.S.

 

The VoIP and video service provider also announced Wednesday the launch of an on-site installation service program for its Packet8 Virtual Office VoIP hosted PBX phone service.
