BandTel Brings SIP Trunking to Avaya DevConnect Program

Among the many popular catchphrases in the IP Communications space, few have attracted more attention in recent months than SIP Trunking. If you are in disbelief, ask anyone who attended Ingate’s SIP Trunking Workshop at INTERNET TELEPHONY Conference & EXPO in Ft. Lauderdale this past January. The noise emanating from the room was such that one simply had to stop to what could cause such a stir. At the end of each session, the applause nearly shook papers next door in the Press Room.

 

Without digressing further, the point simply is that SIP Trunking has gained widespread recognition within the communications community, as carriers and service providers look to enhance services and ensure their customers have access to the most reliable IP services. It then stands to reason that the major IP vendors would team with trunking providers to ensure compatibility of hardware with SIP trunking services.

 

Which is just what Avaya has now done, naming SIP Trunking provider BandTel into its Avaya DeveloperConnection (DevConnect) program as a Gold member. As part of the DevConnect program, BandTel’s (News - Alert) services will be assured compliance with Avaya solutions. The SIP Trunking services, in conjunction with Avaya’s VoIP products, will provide a flexible, reliable, and cost effective solution for companies with an eye toward a converged voice and data infrastructure. With Avaya (News - Alert) and BandTel, those companies will be able to transition to VoIP seamlessly and incorporate the benefits of IP-based services and features into their communications process — including lowering overall telecommunications costs.

 

As a DevConnect member, BandTel will also benefit from cross-development with other members, as well as compliance testing and potential co-marketing efforts with other standards-based Avaya compatible products.

 

“By working hand-in-hand with Avaya to deliver compliance-tested solutions to the market, we are able to benefit our customers and partners and to provide them with reduced costs and reduced network complexity, improved security and reliability, and accelerated time to deployment,” said BandTel CEO Chris Dunk.

 

Indeed, Dunk has highlighted BandTel’s interoperability efforts — it is working fervently to ensure compatibility with as many IP PBXs on the market today as possible. This partnership with Avaya only underscores BandTel’s commitment to ensuring its services are available to as many businesses as possible, regardless of their hardware or service provider choices.

 

In fact, much of the value in the partnership comes from the increased focus on multivendor infrastructures today, with a large number of businesses avoiding putting all their proverbial eggs in one basket. With the variety of applications, hardware, and services available today, working closely with a dominant player like Avaya — and, by extension, Avaya’s other partners — only enhances the value proposition of BandTel’s solution.
