TalkSwitch Intros VoIP Phone System for Small Business

By Johanne Torres, TMCnet Contributing Editor

TalkSwitch (News - Alert) introduced the 244vs, a new VoIP-enabled phone system on Tuesday, which the company wants to target at small and multi-location businesses with up to 4 telephone users. The company says this system is the "most affordable hybrid telephone system on the market."

The new system is the latest addition to the TalkSwitch line of hybrid IP/PSTN PBXs. 244vs has room for two incoming phone company (CO) lines, offers four local extensions, and supports four VoIP trunks. The system is compatible with other TalkSwitch systems.

"The 244vs is an exciting new addition to our product line," commented TalkSwitch's president and CEO Jan Scheeren in a statement. "Companies with fewer than ten employees account for the vast majority of business in North America. The 244vs gives those companies rich features, a professional image and the opportunity to use VoIP at a price that has never been available until now. With the ability to configure extensions as analog or IP, to expand the system as needed, and to customize the way calls are handled, the 244vs gives companies unprecedented control over their telecommunications."

Each individual TalkSwitch unit can be upgraded to a maximum size of 4 CO lines, 4 VoIP trunks and 8 local extensions. Administrators can also network up to 4 units, for a maximum system size of 16 CO lines, 16 VoIP trunks and 32 extensions, which can be configured as analog or IP.

The 244vs is priced at $995 USD.

TalkSwitch made news recently when they announced that their telephone systems are now fully interoperable with BandTel's SIP Trunking architecture. The move will enable customers to chose from a set of toll-quality VoIP dialing plans from BandTel (News - Alert), and connect to them through a TalkSwitch telephone system at their office.

With the BandTel/TalkSwitch system in place, customers should be able to reduce their telecom charges and gain access to enhanced network services. TalkSwitch’s systems hybrid capabilities enable customers to keep their connections to the traditional telephone network without having to acquire additional equipment.
