IP Fax Feature: XMediusFAX Branch Office Survivability Ensures Continuity

By Susan J. Campbell, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Faxing capabilities within the enterprise are an important communication channel, whether it is communication within the organization or to customers and partners outside of the organization.

In the latest technology solutions available, a number of companies have moved to fax over Internet Protocol (FoIP) that allows these companies to integrate faxing into the network for reduced cost, improved productivity and less waste.

Sagem-Interstar (News - Alert) - which is being rebranded as Sagemcom - is one company dominating the FoIP industry and its XMediusFAX solution is erasing the analog fax lines for a number of organizations.

One of the benefits of the XMediusFAX solution is its survivability capabilities. In a recent video, Matthew Miller, Product Manager at Sagemcom shared a brief overview of these capabilities and what they can mean for the enterprise.

In an enterprise setting, one important consideration is branch office Fax over IP survivability, or the ability to process faxes even during a WAN outage when employees become disconnected from the central fax server solution.

In a WAN outage, XMediusFAX automatically redirects traffic to a local branch office solution so employees can continue with day-today operations. Employees even get a copy of their faxes to demonstrate success in communications and for archiving purposes.

With integrated replication, XMediusFAX servers can replicate and re-synchronize databases. As a result, once communication is re-established, operations go back to normal. Users experience no real downtime and the survivability is seamless.

Brach office survivability is important for the enterprise because it minimizes the negative impact associated with network downtime. At the same time, it safeguards productivity, customer service, corporate reputation and revenues.

Every communication channel within the enterprise is important and downtime costs money by reducing or even interrupting productivity. A decision to implement FoIP is generally based on the desire to improve efficiency. As a result, the solution must be able to provide a seamless performance to live up to expectations.

The XMediusFAX solution is designed to deliver on its promises, especially for the branch office location. To get more insight on survivability for the branch office, check out this video in full.
