IP Fax Server Seller Sagem-Interstar in Spotlight at ITEXPO

By David Sims, TMCnet Contributing Editor

IP fax server seller Sagem-Interstar (News - Alert) will be spotlighted at an upcoming session at TMC's ITEXPO East 2010.

And you'll get not one, not two, but four enterprise fax experts, sharing their views on how FoIP addresses both business and technology issues in a UC system, and addressing such topics as whether it involves SIP, virtualization or T.38.

Sagem-Interstar's man will be Sebastien Lalonde, who's a core member of the senior R&D team at the company. He's speaking during the panel session titled 'Integrating Fax into Your Enterprise UC Experience,' at 3 p.m. Jan. 21 at the Miami Beach Convention Center.

“Integrating VoIP-fax into the unified communications mix is a hot topic at ITEXPO (News - Alert), because businesses today still rely on fax communications for contracts and other aspects of their business, such as record keeping and compliance,” Rich Tehrani, CEO and group editor-in-chief of TMC (News - Alert), said.  “This week at ITEXPO, we’re presenting a panel of leading experts in the fax industry, that will help attendees learn the best ways to incorporate VoIP fax into their unified communications solutions.  Anyone attending ITEXPO that is interested in VoIP-fax technologies should plan to attend this session.”

TMC's Amy Tierney recently reported on an interview with Matthew Miller, product manager for Sagem-Interstar, who spoke about the differences between a standard Microsoft (News - Alert) Exchange 2010 integration and Microsoft Exchange 2010 UM integration.

“The core of the debate is differentiating between the two,” Miller said, adding that a standard exchange 2010 integration is what most fax vendors offer -- including Sagem-Interstar -- and that technology has been around for several years.
It's a good way to address both desktop faxing and business application faxing, he noted, since in a standard Exchange integration, the fax relies on Exchange 'as a means of interfacing with the users. They connect through Outlook and the Exchange Server connects to the fax server to send and receive faxes,' Tierney wrote.

The French firm's exhibit booth will showcase the recently launched XMediusFAX Release 6.5 FoIP server software suite, which offers auto-healing capabilities in high availability and disaster recovery scenarios, capable of running inside a Cisco (News - Alert) Integrated Services Router and Application eXtension Platform.

This level of application-certified integration is 'very different from what most IP fax vendors offer in terms of standard Exchange 2010 integration,' company officials pointed out

It also has Microsoft application-certified integration with Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 Unified Messaging, Windows 7 and Windows 2008 R2.

Sagem-Interstar will also showcase its Open Line PR 10.0 platform, IP fax server appliance with smart document management and advanced archiving and routing capabilities.

John Nikolopoulos, director, marketing and product management, Sagem-Interstar, recently told Tehrani that while core networking infrastructure upgrades always drive toward five- to 10-year upgrade cycles, he doesn't see much happening in the space for several years.

Nikolopoulos said that mobility will offer “interesting opportunities” in the coming years, and that industry observers will want to focus on M2M and SIP-enabled applications.

To find out more Sagem-Interstar, visit the company at ITEXPO East 2010. To be held Jan. 20 to 22 in Miami, ITEXPO is the world’s premier IP communications event.
