Sagem-Interstar's IP Fax Solutions Now Certified Compatible with Avaya Communication Manager 5.1

By Patrick Barnard, Group Managing Editor, TMCnet

Sagem-Interstar's XMediusFAX boardless T.38 FoIP server solutions are now certified compatible with Avaya Communication Manager 5.1 and Avaya Media Gateways.

Sagem-Interstar (News - Alert) is a Gold member of the Avaya DevConnect program and thus it works with Avaya developers to ensure seamless interoperability between the companies' products. In so doing it extends the value of its IP fax solutions.

Last August, the company announced that its XMediusFAX solution was the first to be certified compatible with Avaya's (News - Alert) IP telephony products.

This means companies using Avaya all-VoIP architecture can quickly and easily install an XMediusFAX FoIP server and gain the benefits of IP fax, including reduced paper consumption, reduced communication costs, reduced energy consumption, improved security, and features and functionality that greatly enhance employee productivity.

One organization to benefit from this true seamless integration is American Chartered Bank, a premier bank in the northwest Illinois suburban corridor, with 14 locations. Employees of the bank fax of thousands of pages of sensitive account and loan information and other banking documents every month.

"The installation process was very quick and did not require that much work to be done within Avaya Communication Manager," said Gary Peters, second vice president of information systems at American Chartered Bank, in a release. "Everyone likes the way they can now receive faxes into their email boxes and only print those items that they absolutely need to print. The product does everything that was promised and is very easy to administer."

By using an Avaya-certified IP fax solution, the bank reduced network complexity and implementation costs. What's more it is ensured reliability.

Jean Champagne, general manager at Sagem (News - Alert)-Interstar. pointed out that more companies are now migrating to all-IP and many of them are including IP fax in their strategy for getting more value out of their network investment.

"XMediusFAX FoIP benefits businesses with Avaya Unified Communications (UC) infrastructures by enhancing productivity, streamlining operations, and lowering Total Cost of Ownership (TCO)," he said.

In order to be certified Avaya compliant, each solution undergoes interoperability testing at the Avaya Solution Interoperability and Test Lab in Lincroft, N.J.

"By offering compliance testing to the many innovative companies like Sagem-Interstar who are members of our DevConnect (News - Alert) program, Avaya promotes fully interoperable solutions that help businesses unleash powerful new possibilities," said Eric Rossman, vice president, developer relations and technical alliances, Avaya.

Sagem-Interstar's (News - Alert) IP fax solutions were featured in the virtual Cisco IT Innovations Forum on Thursday, May 7. In addition representatives from two of Sagem-Interstar's customers, Van Meter Industrial and The Cardiovascular Group, talked about how the company's IP fax solutions have helped them cut costs and boost employee productivity during the online event, which is archived here.
